Vanner Down!!!!

A blow out in a loaded van nearly 50 years old is not a good thing and at freeway speeds it was enough to make my butt pucker.  Who knew those 12 year old off road tires were no good?  Being broke down on the side of the 405 always sucks................

Estate Find

Organ Donor

I saw this thing at the local pick-a-part a few months back.  It was really nice...sucks.  Once they are in, they can never leave in one piece.  So..I did the next best thing to actually saving it and driving it.  I picked the bones for any piece of meat that would make my van a little nicer.  I actually got a head liner out  of this thing..never even seen one before

Morning Find......

I always get excited when I find an old car club plaque.  They're just neat.  This one isn't the greatest but still original and still cool.

Some days just turn out better than others

Buying out old parts stashes is always a lot of fun.  Generally you have to take it all, the good, bad and the ugly.  I got a little bit of all three in this lot.  That 80's beemer is ugly as hell!

Sometimes if your lucky things come wrapped up in old filthy tube socks!  What could it be?

Could it really be?  Are those really Vincent header pipes?  WOW! 

It goes to show that you really never know what is hidden in boxes and milk crates hidden in old garages.

So Long Chief.........

I just finished an estate sale for a man that passed in my old neighborhood.  As a kid we all just called him Chief.  I remember being a little afraid of him when I was younger.  Not that he was mean or anything, he just had a certain way about him.  I am glad to have gotten to know him as an adult because I always really liked talking to him.  I would often run in to him while visiting my parents.  Chief was a cornerstone on the street, the last original owner and will be missed.  He didn't want a funeral and there was none.  I just thought that I would share a few photos that I found in his stuff and wish him farewell.  So Long Chief.................

Uncovered Long Beach

Facade improvement work uncovered this great old hand painted signage along Anaheim Street.  I was lucky enough to spot it and snap this quick pic...I'm sure it has been painted over by now.

I crossed paths with this guy a few weeks back early in the morning.  I was on my way to the swap meet and he was headed to Fontana for some track time.  Guess who had more fun.........

Body Rot

I've seen this thing siting in a fenced yard for a time now.  Finally stopped to get a picture of it.  Neat and totally rotten

FRADGUAL

Wood boxes are a particular fetish of mine and I like them in all shapes and sizes. They have been used for thousands of purposes, this particular being used by a serviceman to ship something home to a loved one, perhaps his wife or mother. The misspellings are nice but the reversed O and D are puzzling.

Home Built

Things are moving along at this estate sale, although I am getting tired of the dead animals! I found two more opossums and another rat today. Its just getting GROSS! Anyway we have this bitchen home built dune buggy for sale. Built before the fiberglass generation from a shortened pan of a beetle. Nice front suspension and tranny! LIVE THE DREAM $350.00



There's a good $500.00 bucks or so of VW parts here not to mention the awsomeness of the home built factor. This thing rules and should be put back in the sand!

Swap Meet Haul

I took a few days off from working my estate sale to get some fresh air and walk the swap meets. This is just part of the week end finds.

Skeletons in the Closet

Well, not in the closet, but just about everywhere else. I am still working on this estate sale and the dead bodies are piling up. To date I have found what I believe to be 2 rats, one frog and one opossum. Its really kinda gross to have to deal with this.

Need a little help...

I am still working on this estate sale and have been finding some neat stuff. I am trying to figure out what this is. Does anybody want to take a guess. It seems very automotive to me but I just can't figure it out. Who used the omega symbol? It is made of cast aluminum, measures almost 6" in width, has a duel lead socket with a single filament MAZDA bulb rated 12-16 volts. It almost looks like a license plate light but I think that it was used on the interior because of the finish. Can anybody I.D. this thing and put me out of my misery!

BOMB THREAT

O.K. so were are still working hard to sort this crazy garage at our latest estate sale. Early in the afternoon I pulled a box down from a high shelf and start to go through it. The next thing I know I have a real WWII hand grenade in my hands. I have seen enough of these things to know the novelty variety and this was not one of them. I carefully put it down and stand back....pin in...military markings...NO signs of it being tampered with...SHIT! What do I do?! My wife splits and leaves me to die. I call the O.C. Sheriff. They come out and take a look from five feet away and the dude says, "it looks like a grenade to me. I'm calling the bomb squad". SHIT! The bomb squad shows up and goes in. 10 minutes later he walks out with it in pieces. The grenade had been disarmed years ago but there was no clear indication that it had. He told me that upon first inspection he was concerned. He told me that, "through a series of "tests" he felt fairly certain that it was safe" and then picked it up and really checked it out. STUD! The guy was cool as hell and has a job that nobody wants.

It's That Time Again

I put this one off 'till the new year but jumped in with both feet yesterday. I have started working on a new estate sale that is definitely BB&A approved. Lots of great stuff at this sale! We're shooting for a sale date at the beginning of Feb. I'll let you when and where when the time is right. Until then, enjoy a few teaser shots of whats gonna be there.
